With less than 1 Euro a day you can give a bushman child the opportunity to attend our center in the Kalahari desert in Botswana.  Mosaico Euroafricano manages a day centre, the “Paolo Zanichelli’s Children’s Home” with a nursery school for needy children in the village of D’kar. To fight the poverty, vulnerability and ignorance of this marginalized people, we need to provide tools to know, learn and evolve. We therefore understand the vital importance of education starting from the first years of life. Adherence to our “educational support” project guarantees healthy growth for many needy children and opens the way for them to education, which is essential for knowledge and awareness of their rights. Children attend our kindergarten for three years and sleep at home. “Educational support” also helps cover the center’s expenses for food, clothing, health care, teacher payments, school supplies, and facility maintenance. Our goal is to follow and support children especially from three to six years of age, until they start elementary school in their own village. We believe these first few years in a child’s life are of paramount importance. Generally, a mother with a three-year-old child has already given birth to another child and often the older one is left alone. We can offer them what they lack at home: food, clothing, health care and education. We also try, as in a family, to give our children above all a lot of affection and love. Another reason for satisfaction and recognition of the importance of our project is that the children who have attended the three years of our nursery school all go, with very few exceptions, regularly to primary school. School in Botswana is not compulsory and unfortunately there are still many children who do not attend it (despite the state’s advice) or leave it after a short time. We would like to give the opportunity to all children of that age to be able to follow our kindergarten to be prepared for elementary school.

Why an educational support?

-To make a gesture of solidarity towards disadvantaged children.

– To get closer to different cultures by building a bridge between our culture and that of another country.

– To give children in developing countries a future.

How can you join?

The annual fee required for school support for a child is € 300.00 per year or € 25.00 per month. We ask for a commitment of 1 to 3 years. The duration of the commitment is however free and is left to the sensitivity and economic possibilities of the person who wishes to join the project. Once a year, you will receive an update letter and a photo of “your” supported child. Furthermore, before Christmas, we send all our supporters a letter of information about our centre. Educational support can also be provided by groups, associations, schools or companies, as long as a contact person is always indicated.
